Regimental History

The regiment was formed on 21.11.1808 as Inf.-Regt. Nr. 11 (11th Infantry Regiment) from the silesian Brigade that was formed in 1806 in Eastprussia, consisting from volunteers and veterans from the the left overs of the old Prussian regiments No. 28, 32, 44, , 49, 50 and the 3rd Battaillon of the infantry regiment no. 31.

In 1813 the regiment was reformed in three battaillons and fought against France in the campaign of 1813-14.

On 14.10.1814 the Grenadier Company was used to form the Grenadier Regiment Franz.

In 1818 the Regiment was put in the VI. Army Corps, 11th Division, 21st Brigade.

 On 27.9.1866 Company no. 4., 5., 13.were used to form the 83rd Regiment, on 1.4.1881 the 7thCompany was used to form the 132ns Regiment and on
1.4.1887  3rd Company was used for the 138th Regiment.

1914-18 the regiment fought on the Western Front (allied intelligence rated the 11th Division as second class Division).

The Regiment also took part in the Christmas Truce of 1914.

Regiment was disbanded in 1919.
